Support Our Communities - Tues 29th Sept 2015
More than 60 people attended a meeting about how to end racism in the LGBT community in London on Tuesday 29th September 2015.
The event, organised by DIVA magazine in partnership with Stonewall, UK Black Pride, Rainbow Intersection and BlackOutLDN, was held at the Roxy Bar in London Bridge and featured a panel discussion about racism in the community and how to best challenge it.
Panel members, chaired by UKBP's Phyll Opoku-Gyimah, shared personal experiences of racism within the LGBT community as well as wider society and discussed everything from UKIP's involvement at Pride to white privilege, the failures of mainstream and LGBT media, to practical steps which we can all take to create a better, more inclusive community.
